Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding, And A Little Ritz

Santa Ana Courthouse WeddingGorgeous girl. Loveliest guy. Gorgeous wedding.

One thing that I love about weddings, is that everyone’s wedding story looks different. In my opinion, a wedding is really about two people coming together, and making it officially forever. No matter how many people are there with you, or where you choose to celebrate this moment, it’s you two that matter.

Karin & Chris opted for an intimate, and perfect day to make it official. They had some of my most fave engagement pictures EVERRRRRR (check them out right here), and I feel so special that they asked me to continue the happy pictures on their wedding day. I was honored to be there, along with their six family members, and give them pictures that will be in their lives forever.

Their beautiful day started at the Santa Ana Courthouse. This place is to die for. And these stairs. THESE STAIRS! I shine with glee every time I’m lucky enough to be here, creating incredible portraits of people in loooooooooove.Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (2) Santa-Ana-Courthouse-Wedding-(1)Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (5) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (4) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (3) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (7) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (6) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (9) Santa Ana Courthouse Wedding (8)After their ceremony at the Santa Ana Courthouse, we headed over to the equally stunning Ritz Carlton in Dana Point, for a perfect dinner.

Ohhhhh this place. Timeless. Classy. Beautiful. Perfectly fitting for this lovey couple.

I absolutely adore this next picture. They stepped away from everyone for  a minute, to be alone. But you know I had to follow them when they weren’t looking. Congrats to two sweet people. Looking forward to watching their story unfold for years to come!

15 Things. #1.

Ever go through a season of your life where things are rough? Me too. I have one of those seasons right now. Despite rough waters, I always do my absolute best to choose happiness and positivity, in the midst of whatever is happening.

I swear this post is totally not a downer!!

My point…
I read an article recently, and I can’t even remember what the purpose of it was. But that doesn’t matter, because it offered what appeared to be a simple challenge: make a list of 15 things that make you truly happy, and be specific.

So I started making my list:
Traveling. Eating. Sleeping. My dog.
Wow, I’m super exciting, right?

As it turns out, making a list of 15 things that make you truly happy, not so simple. I mean if I want to come up with one word answers, yes, simple. But what really stumped me was when I sat down to write this, I asked myself, “okay, so what makes you genuinely happy inside??” My answer? It was “I don’t even know anymore.” I’ve been hustling through life for a while now, and haven’t stopped to breathe, and figure out what it is that keeps me going.

So I decided that I’m determined to compile this list. And not only to compile it, but to be honest and do a little seeking, to get all the way to #15. When you go through hard seasons of life, sometimes it can be difficult to see beautiful things, right in your midst. So the idea to make this list really resonated with me. I was completely caught off guard when I started making it, to realize it’s not so simple to identify things that make you truly happy.

As of now, I have a few to add to my list. Only a few out of 15? It’s true. But ya gotta start somewhere!

Basset-Hound#1 (and these are not in any particular order).
Walking my dog Rampage late at night, by myself, when the air is cold and crisp, and no one is out, with my earphones in, listening to music that makes me happy at that moment.
Boooom! Specific enough? I think yes.

I’m actually kind of excited to see what else I come up with. It’s a surprise! You should try this challenge with me. I’d be so interested to see if it’s easier for some people to come up with 15 things, or if it’s kind of difficult for most everyone.

Baby Showers Are My Thing

Here’s the thing.
I’m a control freak.
True story.

On the bright side, my control tendencies have actually calmed down. So yay for me (and the people who plan or really do anything with me).

On a positive note of control freak behavior, it comes in handy quite often. Being a photographer for instance. I mean what if I weren’t a control freak during our sessions? What if I just left you to figure out how to pose. Ummmmmm ya, that wouldn’t be so fun. So I simply bust out my control freak behavior, move you around, make you look perfectly non-posed, and boooom. Glorious picture.

Another time control freak behavior comes in handy is when planning events!! Remember the most lovely lady in the Disneyland Maternity pictures (if not, look at them NOW, right here)? Well me and my control freak self had a grand ol time planning the loveliest of baby showers for her!

A few of us ladies, along with this mama to be’s mama, threw her such a beautiful shower. We put lots of effort into planning every last detail. It turned out so awesome.

Unfortunately, I forgot to take pictures. Well I did remember to take pictures of the flowers because I really love flowers. Not exactly sure how I completely overlooked taking pictures of people and other stuff. Haha. Oh well.

So I’m proud to be a control freak. It creates some great things. Good luck to you if you ever work with me on a personal level (really though, I’m a hoot though, I swear).

And I leave you with some lovely pictures of flowers now!

Don’t Forget YOU This Mothers Day

I have this pet peeve that I never let go of:
Moms not being IN the pictures.

You take all these beautiful pictures of your kids with your iPhone and put them on Instagram and Facebook. But I seriously rarely see you mamas in these pictures. THIS. Makes me sad.

So today I encourage you to remember to take lots of with your little ones (and your whole family in general) this weekend.

More thoughts about it this topic are up on everyone’s favorite party planning website, Hostess With The Mostess, right here. Go check it out! And if you’re still not good at being in pictures, then shoot me an email, and I’ll help!HWTM
